Five Chilly Snowmen Poem and Activity

This holiday poem was derived from the classic "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed". It adds a little holiday twist to it by incorporating snowmen, sledding and...who else -- Santa! Put your snowsuits on. You're in for a chilly ride with a handful of clumbsy snowmen! Be careful! I suspect there will be some head bumping on this sled ride! What will Santa do with these silly snowmen? 

Five Chilly Snowmen Poem

Five chilly snowmen sliding on the sled
One fell off and bumped his head
Santa called the doctor and the doctor said
"No more snowmen sliding on the sled!"

Four chilly snowmen sliding on the sled
One fell off and bumped his head
Santa called the doctor and the doctor said
"No more snowmen sliding on the sled!"

Three chilly snowmen sliding on the sled
One fell off and bumped his head
Santa called the doctor and the doctor said
"No more snowmen sliding on the sled!"

Two chilly snowmen sliding on the sled
One fell off and bumped his head
Santa called the doctor and the doctor said
"No more snowmen sliding on the sled!"

Once chilly snowman sliding on the sled
He fell off and bumped his head
Santa called the doctor and the doctor said
"Santa, please keep them off of that sled!"

Five Chilly Snowmen Activity

To make this poem more interesting for the preschool classroom, you'll need a few simple supplies. Find some old holiday cards that have snowman, sleds and a Santa on them. Cut out the images from the cards and use to tell the poem to your preschoolers. Let your preschoolers develop their hand coordination by cutting out their own images. Have each preschooler place their images in an envelope to take home and re-tell the story to mom and dad!
