Learning the Alphabet

Here is a sweet little alphabet poem for your sweet little preschooler. The first part is sung to the tune of your regular ABC song. Switching the lyrics up a bit, helps keep learning and teaching interesting for you and you preschooler.

Learning the Alphabet

Letters are cool,
Letters are neat,
Here’s the alphabet,
Practice it with me.
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP
QRSTUVWXY and Z.
Now you know,
Your ABC’s,
I hope you had fun,
Singing with me!

Preschool Alphabet Poem Activities

Write each letter separately on big pieces of paper and point to them as you spell them out in the poem. When you feel like your child is ready, take the letters and mix them up, and have them put them in order again. Easy and common three letter words are good to start with. Preschoolers will pick these words up quickly and feel very proud when they do! .

Now let’s practice our spelling.

B-A-T and C-A-T,
Spell Bat and Cat as you can see.
M-O-M and D-A-D,
Spell Mom and Dad, you still with me?
R-U-N
Spells Run Run Run,
Learning the alphabet is so much fun!
