Jack and Mack

This Preschool Poem Jack and Mack is great to get your preschoolers imagination flowing. Preschoolers get to do a bit of acting and moving around. Then they get to do what they love to do most-talk and tell their own story. The activity at the end is perfect for circle time or a wind down of a busy day.

Jack and Mack
These two black cats,
When up the hill to play.
They saw a dog,
Named Billy Bog,
Then got scared and ran away.
Now Billy Bog,
Sat all alone,
Wondering what to do.
Because two can be fun,
But with only one,
He didn't know what to do.

Preschool Circle Time Activity.

In the poem when cat said, have your preschoolers meow like cats and show their long cat whiskers. The later when dog is said, have them bark and pant like dogs. Splitting them up into groups, half cats and half dogs can be fun as well. Have the “cats” make scared faces and run away when they see the dog in the poem, then the “dogs” can make sad faces because the “cats” have gone. Your preschoolers can put their hands up and “wonder” what to do at the end. Try to find out what they would do if they had some quite time alone. Preschoolers love to color or even look at picture books, start them off and see what they have to say!
